Tis the Season

Tis the Season and that season is Baseball Season, or in our house Cardinals Season. So far "our" beloved Cards are atop their division and mashing like no other. I know...I am a lot biased. Tonight at dinner we were talking to the kids about plans and things and we got to Aedan's birthday and how she is having a Pinkalicious Party that morning and then that evening we are going to a Cardinals vs. Astros game. So I asked her what team ws her favorite baseball team and to my astonishment she said the Cardinals (note sarcasm), and then Gavin followed up with the Cardinals and so did Chaz along with his favorite t-ball team which is the Cardinals.

Codi and I are going to our first game on Saturday night...Colorado Rockies vs. the Astros. I would prefer the Cards, but I will not complain because it is a live major league game and no kids.

We hope for a great season from our Cards and Chaz's t-ball team...GO CARDS!!!!

FIRSTs

Yesterday I mowed the whole yard for the FIRST time this year (I love the opportunity mowing gives me to think and reflect)...as I did so I was thinking about FIRSTs for our family - whether it be for this year or a true FIRST.

Aedan had her FIRST soccer game yesterday. It was a true showing of her sense of drama as most of the game she was either pouting on the field or crying off the field (for no reason we could tell). Luckily we have two girls on the team who are great players and they made up of the lack of a player on the field. Through the YMCA - they don't keep score, but just emphasize fun at this age.

Chaz had his FIRST t-ball game. He played second base & FIRST base & made his dad a happy man as he batted both right and left handed. He did very well hitting and the team had fun. As with soccer, we don't keep score for t-ball either & just have fun!

This past month I enjoyed a FIRST as friends & husband so kindly watched the kids and I went up to Oklahoma to visit with my siblings (Carli came in from Denver, Clint was returning home from a 2-year stint in Korea before leaving for Iraq in June, & Cyle is stationed currently at Ft. Sill) & to present at a Stake Women's Conference. We had fun and it was the FIRST time I was away from all of my kids.

Kindergarten FIRST - March 25th Chaz and I headed to Kindergarten Orientation. He was such a big kid as he left with the other soon-to-be kindergarteners to play, draw, etc. while the parents were given the details of registration, attendance, etc. He walked right off, with a couple of kids from preschool & church tagging close behind (they weren't so excited to leave their parents). We toured each of the kindergarten rooms & met the teachers...he is excited for next year & I'm excited for him.

March 26th we got the call that my Aunt Anelle had died - most likely of a blood clot after knee surgery. This is my FIRST aunt or uncle to die. It was sad...she is my dad's younger sister. The next day I packed the kids and myself (Coby was away on business in NM & met us in CO) in about 4 hours and jumped in the van to head to Cortez, CO. The occasion bringing all the family together was sad, but it was great to see everyone again. It was the FIRST time I had seen the majority of my dad's family since my Grandma's funeral in 2000.
April 3rd was the FIRST time I was at the gym in a month. It was good to exercise again. I love a good hard sweat (probably another reason I love to mow).

Lastly, this weekend being General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, this is the FIRST General Conference after President Thomas S. Monson was sustained as the President of the Church and Prophet. What a blessing it is to be able to listen to a Prophet's voice!
